Secret security clearance is required Description: Assists higher level engineer by performing specified portions of overall evaluations pertaining to the areas including, but not limited to, ballistics, metal parts performance analysis, microscopy and/or metallurgical analysis of Army material. Guidance is provided on the analysis of difficult or unusual problems. Study engineering texts, manufacturer's publications and other technical material to obtain information on materials, components, subsystems, and other pertinent data to be used by higher level engineers in the materials evaluation and mechanical analysis of systems and/or in the performance tests of vehicles or weapon systems. Examples of work assignments in this area and within scope and complexity is the development and performance of ballistic measurements evaluation techniques for vulnerability tests of armored vehicles, development of techniques involving detection, measurement, and analysis of damage to combat vehicles/equipment from applications of a variety of attack criteria related to the activity's Vulnerability/ Survivability Testing Program, development of methods to determine the adequacy, correct type and method for installing gages used to quantify dynamic weapon performance, devising an instrumentation plan for ballistic measurement to assess the performance of artillery weapons, determining instrumentation requirements for and conducting automotive performance tests of wheeled and tracked vehicles. Uses specific instructions, notes or engineering texts and utilizes basic fundamentals of engineering sciences especially as it pertains to the microscopy, spectroscopy, fracture, metal fatigue, ballistics, vehicle performance, and related engineering and mathematical science for use in specific projects of higher level engineers. Assists in the analysis of the effects of mechanical design on system performance and the effects of metallurgical parameters on system survivability. Performs necessary calculations, prepares charts and graphs to present information in test reports, and prepares sections of test reports. Qualifications: Must possess a Bachelor's Degree in engineering specialization or related discipline and five years applicable experience. Secret security clearance is required.
